So You’re Photographing a Desert Wedding?

In July of this year, I was asked to go and photograph at the Big Red Bash for the Courier Mail.

It was beyond incredible. We flew out to Birdsville in a tiny plane from Brisbane to the Big Red Bash. It’s known as the Burning Man of Australia. Essentially, a lot of “grey nomads” travel over 1000 kms for this festival in what some would say - the middle of nowhere.

We heard a wedding was planned. It turned out, two weddings were planned and were going to happen at the same time!

I love these photographs because you can see the onlookers and watch Kayla go down the red dirt desert aisle with her father.

This was definitely a challenging part of the day to photograph in so I was moving around quite a lot after the ceremony to get the lighting just right.

Would you ever do a desert wedding?
